Portrait of Nigel Tangye by Wyndham Lewis, 1946.
Tangye was a well known RAF pilot during the war, and an author of short stories and travel books. He worked for MI5, and later claimed to have been an MI5 agent during the Spanish Civil War. He opened his family home, Glendorgal in Cornwall, as a hotel in 1950, and this portrait hung there until the hotel was closed and the painting sold in 1971.
