Interior Scene, Possibly in Norway by Harold Gilman - 1912. This shows how Gilman’s style of painting had progressed within a short period of time. He was greatly influenced by Roger Fry’s exhibition Manet and the Post-Impressionists in 1910, which contributed to a change in this early painting style. He started using brighter colours and thick impasto, shifting away from the smooth surfaces that characterised his early paintings. Yale Center for British Art
