Elizabeth Forbes’ view of Mounts Bay in Cornwall painted in around 1889. Forbes (nee Armstrong) was a Canadian born painter who settled in Newlyn in 1885. After Newlyn, she moved to St. Ives, where she met Stanhope Forbes, marrying in 1889. In 1899 they opened the Newlyn School of Art.
After her death in 1912, she was named as "the Queen of Newlyn" for her contributions to the art colony.
